Artifacts are a type of equipment that give significant bonuses to skills. This means many items grant characters additional tactical abilities.
Artifacts occupy the special Artifact equipment slot.
Secondary materials do not give additional attribute bonuses; they only affect the value of the primary attribute(s). Like jewellery, gems used in artifacts have a fixed effect, as opposed to adding a random bonus like they do for weapons and armour.
Researching artifacts requires unlocking jewellery first, and is not needed for unlocking anything else.
